SARAT Project has initiated a series of meetings titled Archaeology in Local Context Workshops across Turkey, and the first of these events was organised in the city of Burdur.
Hosted by Burdur Municipality's Conference and Exhibition Centre, the event was attended by 28 individuals including academics, representatives of various institutions, municipal employees and NGO professionals.
Dr. Işılay Gürsu and Özlem Başdoğan of SARAT Project were the speakers at the Archaeology in Local Context Workshop. During the event, there was a debate on the local social and economic contribution of archaeological assets, and ways to enhance this contribution, setting off from the results of the survey on the Relations Between Society and Archaeology carried out by SARAT Project. SARAT Project's videos on the relation between archaeology and humans were also screened at the event.
